Junior golf continues to grow in large part thanks to Tiger Woods. As more and more student-athletes join Junior golf, there is an obvious increase in competition for college golf scholarships. Because of this fact, I thought it would be important to share with you some of the common parameters a college golf coach is looking for in new recruits.

Please, understand that what I am sharing with you are only parameters. They are not set in stone, and I think it is valuable to have something to shoot for as you continue to develop your golf game.

In the mid to late 90’s Tiger Woods, the 21-year-old golf star was given the nick name the “Great Black Hope”, the putter-wielding equivalent of Martin Luther King Jr. Pundits waxed poetic about the cosmic social significance of Woods’ magnificent feat. “I am Tiger Woods” ads seemed to gain much control of the airwaves. Coinciding with the fiftieth anniversary celebrations of Jackie Robinson’s breaking of baseball’s color line, an event of much greater significance: Woods’ coronation as the Black Prince of the Country Club gave America a chance to engage in its favorite ritual, the recitation of warm (if not warm and fuzzy both) racial attitudes. While blacks celebrated the triumph of one of their own in a lily-white sport, whites wiped away tears and congratulated themselves on their remarkable progress. The choreographed racial minuet was proceeding as smoothly as a 30-second TV Nike spot.

If you play golf then you know the importance of having a good swing. Your swing makes or breaks your golf game. The follow through and mechanics of your swing are very important to long term success. To ensure you have a consistent swing, it is vital to warm up your muscles, joints and tendons prior to playing. Proper warm up consists of stretching, light exercise and massage. These are important to get your body prepared for the repetitive physical activity that it must perform. Now you may not know that a massage chair can be an effective part of your pre-golf game.

Contrary to popular belief, there is a difference between stress and anxiety. Stress comes from the pressures we feel in life which releases adrenaline. Anxiety, on the other hand, is a feeling of apprehension or fear. Both stress and anxiety can cause muscle stiffness and tightness. This can cause discomfort adding the feelings of stress and anxiety. Massage chairs offer a multitude of massage therapy treatments to induce relaxation and to calm the muscles and body.

Golf courses across the country are closing down and going out of business across the United States of America at an alarming rate. Florida, the state with more golf clubs than any other state, is seeing this more and more as time goes on. A lot of these failing golf clubs are blaming the economy, and some are even blaming the current state of the golf world in general; but I see things differently, they should be blaming themselves.

As we enter the final few months of 2009, your golf club should be well on its way to being finishing, if not finished with its Business Plan for 2010. Yet, I find that in many cases golf clubs have not yet even started the process. When I ask why the plan hasn’t begun, I hear a litany of amusing responses, well actually unfounded excuses. After many years of negotiation the Federal Government, Ministrio Pblico Federal (MPF) has granted the state of Paraba permission for the construction of a conference centre in the state capital of Joao Pessoa. The centre will be constructed in Cabo Branco, a tranquil area with a splendid beach and great restaurants and bars. It is Joo Pessoa’s number one residential district and an ideal investment location.

It was confirmed by Infrastructure Secretary, Francisco Sarmento, that the Government of Paraba has now fulfilled all necessary terms laid down by the MPF and works will start in September. The conference centre has an estimated budget of $50 million.

Private Clubs have historically structured their Membership Offerings to include a provision for the return or refund of all or some portion of the initiation fee/ new members pay to join a Club.

This initial payment is subject to certain terms and conditions as set forth in the clubs membership plan and by-laws. A frequent scenario provides a refund to a resigning member based on some formula, such as for every 3 or 4 new members who join; one resigning member receives a refund. This formula continues until the golf club reaches its membership cap after which resigning members are repaid on a one to one basis. Additionally, sometimes the continuation of the payment of membership dues is required in order to receive a refund.
